According to a survey in early 2018 by STEM Camp, 74 percent of respondents state that men are more suited to careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). With these numbers, it’s not surprising to see that so few women actually pursue careers in these fields.
Gender bias in the STEM fields exists. And it’s what is driving BMO for Women’s belief that there needs to be more support for women who are looking to build careers in these traditionally male-dominated fields. To create space and make science and technology accessible to all, BMO for Women is proud to be supporting an exciting lecture series hosted by Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.
Focused on the experiences and research by women scientists, four of the lectures in the series will not only be available to attend in person (space is limited) in Waterloo, Ontario, but they will also be live-streamed for those who are interested, but can’t be there in person.
